Father Guilherme Peixoto, a Catholic priest from Portugal, is taking his unusual way of spreading faith to Latin America. Known as the “DJ Priest,” he mixes electronic music with religious messages. Instead of only speaking from the church pulpit, he now performs in clubs and concert halls from Mexico to Colombia.
In Monterrey, Mexico, hundreds of young people danced to fast electronic beats as Peixoto played music behind his DJ turntables while wearing his priest’s collar. Some priests and religious followers also attended. His shows are part of a tour to promote his new music EP, Si Tuvieras Fe, which was released on December 5.

Peixoto says his goal is to combine excitement and spiritual reflection. He believes music can help young people connect with faith in a fun and modern way. During his performances, he mixes energetic music with short spiritual messages. He also shows images of religious figures, like the Virgin of Guadalupe and Pope Francis, on large screens.
The priest has been DJing for about 20 years. He started music events to raise money for his parish in Portugal. Over time, his DJ work grew popular, and he now has fans around the world. Peixoto says he wants to create a community where everyone feels welcome. On the dance floor, people can enjoy music without judgment while learning about faith.
Even with his busy DJ tour, Peixoto continues his traditional priest duties. After late-night performances, he still celebrates mass early the next morning. He says that music and religion do not have to be separate and that both can inspire people’s lives.
Father Peixoto’s tour shows that faith can reach people in new and creative ways. His approach combines culture, music, and religion, making church messages more appealing to a younger generation.
