Report Confirms Mike McDaniel Will Stay as Dolphins Head Coach Until Season Ends

The Miami Dolphins have confirmed that head coach Mike McDaniel will stay with the team until the end of the season. This news comes after the team announced that general manager Chris Grier is leaving his position.

According to ESPN and other sports outlets, McDaniel will continue to lead the team “through at least the end of the regular season.” The coach, who is in his fourth year with the Dolphins, signed a contract extension in 2024 that runs through 2028.

McDaniel spoke to the media before the news about Grier’s departure was made public. The team’s choice to keep him shows that the Dolphins want stability as they make front office changes. With Grier leaving, the club seems focused on keeping things steady on the field by not changing the head coach during the season.

So far, McDaniel has a 30–30 record in regular-season games with the Dolphins. The team has made it to the playoffs under his leadership but has not yet gone far. This has led some to question how long he will remain the team’s head coach after this season ends.

The decision to keep McDaniel for now also gives the organization time to plan its next steps. In the NFL, a new general manager often reviews the coaching staff to see if changes are needed. That means McDaniel’s future could depend on who replaces Grier and how the team performs in the remaining games.

For now, Dolphins fans can expect to see McDaniel on the sidelines for the rest of the 2025 season. The focus will be on how well the team finishes the year and what direction Miami takes once the season is over.
