LOS ANGELES — Rapper Lil Nas X was hospitalised and later arrested after a disturbing early-morning incident in Los Angeles in which he was filmed wandering the streets nearly naked.
The 26-year-old Grammy winner, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, was spotted around 4 a.m. on Ventura Boulevard wearing only underwear and boots, according to video obtained by TMZ. At one point he placed an orange traffic cone on his head and told a passerby he was on his way to a party.
Police received multiple emergency calls and arrived at about 5:50 a.m., a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson told Page Six. Hill allegedly charged at officers before being restrained, and was transported to hospital for a possible overdose. He was later booked into Van Nuys Jail at 11:22 a.m. on charges including battery on a police officer.
Representatives for the singer did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Hill himself has not addressed the incident.
In the hours before his arrest, the Atlanta-born artist posted a series of erratic images and captions on Instagram, including photos of a messy home and selfies with cryptic messages such as “OH NO sHES GONE MAD! CRAZY I TELL U!”
Lil Nas X has previously spoken about drug use, telling Variety in 2020 that he heavily smoked marijuana after the death of his grandmother and later experimented with psychedelic mushrooms while creating his 2021 album Montero.
