Israeli Strikes Kill Six in Yemen’s Sanaa After Houthi Missile Attacks

Israeli airstrikes hit Yemen’s capital Sanaa on Sunday, killing at least six people and wounding 86, according to Houthi-run media, after the Yemeni group claimed a missile attack against Israel.

The Israeli military said it targeted a presidential palace complex and other sites it described as part of a “military infrastructure” used by the Houthis, whom it called a “terrorist regime.” Houthi-affiliated Al Masirah TV reported strikes on an oil facility and a power station.

The Houthis, who control most of northern Yemen, said the attack would not deter their campaign of launching missiles and drones at Israel in support of Palestinians in Gaza.

“The Israeli aggression against Yemen will not discourage us from continuing our support for Gaza, no matter the sacrifices,” senior Houthi official Mohammed al-Bukhaiti said.

The group claimed its air defenses had forced some Israeli aircraft to withdraw, while officials in Sanaa accused Israel of deliberately bombing civilian infrastructure.

The Houthi-run government called the raids a “war crime,” while Hamas condemned them as a “blatant violation of Arab sovereignty.”

The strikes marked at least the second Israeli attack on Sanaa in a week. On Friday, the Houthis said they launched a hypersonic missile and two drones at Israel, part of what they describe as efforts to pressure Israel to lift its siege on Gaza.
