Former American Idol contestant Randy Madden, 45, has been arrested in California for allegedly having sexual contact with a minor. The Ventura County District Attorney’s Office confirmed that Madden faces six serious charges, including having sex with a minor, oral copulation with a person under 18, sending harmful material to a minor, luring a minor, penetration with a foreign object, and trying to stop a witness from reporting the crime.
Authorities said the alleged incidents happened between July and September 2025. Madden was arrested on October 30 and later released on November 4 after posting a $100,000 bail. His next court hearing is scheduled for November 13.

Madden became known to the public after appearing on Season 8 of American Idol in 2009. During his audition, he performed Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ on a Prayer,” but did not make it past the first round. Though his TV appearance was brief, it earned him short-term fame.
Court documents show that during a video appearance, Madden pleaded not guilty to all charges. The judge issued a protective order to keep him away from the alleged victim while the case continues.
Investigators said the case is still under review and more evidence is being collected. The police have not shared many details to protect the identity and privacy of the minor involved.
Legal experts say the accusations against Madden are serious and could lead to many years in prison if he is found guilty. However, under the law, he remains innocent until proven guilty.
Neither Madden nor his representatives have made any public comment about the case. The producers of American Idol have also not responded to media requests.
This arrest has started new conversations about how public figures should act responsibly, especially when dealing with minors. The case continues to draw public attention as it moves through the California court system.
