Susan Powter, the famous fitness expert known for her “Stop the Insanity!” campaign in the 1990s, is back with a new documentary that tells the story of her life, struggles, and comeback.
Powter became very popular in the 1990s. She sold millions of books and videos and made over $100 million from her fitness programs. She also hosted a national TV talk show. At that time, she inspired many people to live healthier lives.
However, after reaching fame, Powter faced many problems. She made some bad business decisions, and some of her partners let her down. This caused her company to fail. She also went through lawsuits and eventually declared bankruptcy. At one point, she said she lived in a small, roach-infested hotel in Las Vegas.
The new documentary shows Powter sharing her story openly. She talks about the challenges she faced and how she stayed strong. “Nothing has changed and everything has changed … but real hope is there. I just want to work again,” she said.
The filmmaker Zeberiah Newman met Powter during her difficult time and convinced her to tell her story. In the film, she shares her feelings of anger and shame, but she also shows courage and determination. Newman said the documentary is not just about Susan’s life but also about human strength and hope. He also highlighted how Powter’s struggle to get healthy food reflects the larger problem of food insecurity in society.
Even now, Powter continues to work hard. She drives for Uber Eats and lives in a small apartment in Las Vegas. She says she refuses to be a victim and is using her experiences to fuel her second chance in life.

The documentary is already showing in Los Angeles and New York theaters and is available for pre-order on Apple TV. It tells an inspiring story of resilience, hope, and the power to overcome challenges.
