Fatal Overnight Crash in Maple Ridge, B.C. Leaves One Dead

One person has died following a single-vehicle crash in Maple Ridge early Friday morning.

The collision happened shortly before 3:05 a.m. at the intersection of 240 Street and Lougheed Highway, according to Ridge Meadows RCMP. When officers arrived, firefighters and paramedics were already on scene. Despite their efforts, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ridge Meadows RCMP said its Serious Crimes Unit and the Lower Mainland Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Team (ICARS) are leading the investigation to determine what caused the crash.

B.C. Emergency Health Services confirmed that one ambulance with primary care paramedics, another with advanced care paramedics, and a paramedic supervisor were dispatched to the scene. No patients were transported to hospital.

Lougheed Highway was closed in both directions for several hours as investigators examined the scene. By 9:30 a.m., one westbound lane had reopened between Jim Robson Way and 240 Street, while eastbound lanes were expected to remain closed for much of the morning.

Police said the investigation remains “active and ongoing” and are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam or surveillance footage from the area to contact the Ridge Meadows RCMP at 604-463-6251.

Authorities also encouraged anyone affected by what they witnessed to reach out to the Ridge Meadows RCMP Victim Services program at 604-467-7650 for support.
