The creators of the popular Netflix series Stranger Things, Matt and Ross Duffer, have shared new details about the show’s fifth and final season. Speaking at an event in Lucca, Italy, the brothers said the ending will be “big, action-packed, and very emotional.”
Ross Duffer said that releasing the final season feels “nerve-wracking,” but they are excited for fans to finally see it. Matt Duffer added that this last chapter will have more action and special effects than ever before, but it will also be the most emotional season yet because it ends the story for all the main characters.

Stranger Things first premiered in 2016 and became one of Netflix’s biggest hits. The show is set in the 1980s in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana, where a group of kids discover a dangerous alternate world called the Upside Down. Over the years, it has gained a huge global fan base and inspired video games, toys, immersive events, and even a stage play.
Actor Gaten Matarazzo, who plays Dustin, said filming the final scenes was full of emotion. “You work on something for a decade, and everyone becomes like family,” he said. “Saying goodbye is hard — there were lots of tears, laughs, and hugs.”
The fifth season of Stranger Things will be released in three parts. The first four episodes will be available on November 26, the next three on December 25, and the final episode will be released on December 31. The last episode will also be shown in some cinemas in the United States and Canada.
The Duffer brothers said they want the final season to give fans both excitement and closure. Matt Duffer explained, “It’s the end of the story for all of these characters,” marking the close of a show that has become a major part of modern TV history.
