Day 1,290 of the Ukraine War: What You Need to Know

The Ukraine-Russia war updates reveal escalating tensions on both sides, with Moscow announcing territorial gains while Kyiv intensifies its drone strikes on key Russian infrastructure. The conflict continues to reshape regional security, drawing in international concerns and highlighting the possibility of foreign troop involvement in the post-war landscape.

Russian state media reported that Moscow’s forces have taken control of the settlement of Markove, located in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine. The advance underscores Russia’s continued push to consolidate territory in the strategically important Donbas area.

In retaliation, Ukrainian drone forces carried out strikes on multiple targets inside Russia and occupied territories.

A major oil refinery in Ryazan came under attack, with debris landing on industrial grounds.

An oil depot in Luhansk, a Russian-occupied region, was also targeted.

Ryazan’s regional governor Pavel Malkov confirmed that air defense and electronic warfare systems intercepted eight drones. The attack caused no casualties but highlighted Kyiv’s determination to cripple Russia’s war resources.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that “thousands” of foreign troops may soon be deployed under post-war security guarantees signed with a coalition of allies led by French President Emmanuel Macron.

This agreement, according to Kyiv, is designed to ensure long-term security and prevent future aggression from Moscow.

Putin Warns Against Foreign Troops in Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin responded sharply, warning that any foreign troops stationed in Ukraine would be considered legitimate military targets.

“If some troops appear there, especially now, during military operations, we proceed from the fact that these will be legitimate targets for destruction,” Putin declared at an economic forum in Vladivostok.

He added that if a peace agreement is reached, the presence of international troops on Ukrainian territory would “make no sense.”

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov clarified that North Korean soldiers fighting alongside Moscow’s forces are only being deployed on Russian territory, not inside Ukraine. This further highlights the deepening military cooperationbetween Moscow and Pyongyang.

The Ukraine-Russia war updates from September 6 show that the conflict remains volatile, with territorial advances, drone strikes, and geopolitical threats shaping the battlefield. With talk of foreign troops joining Ukraine’s defense and Russia vowing to treat them as targets, the war continues to carry global implications far beyond Eastern Europe.
