Bonsu Baah: Ghana Will Definitely Qualify for 2026 World Cup

Ghanaian forward Christopher Bonsu Baah has quickly emerged as one of the most exciting prospects in Ghanaian football following his impressive performances at the 2025 Unity Cup in London.

The 20-year-old Genk winger made a statement on his senior Black Stars debut against Nigeria, showcasing flair, composure, and attacking dynamism. He followed it up with another lively display against Trinidad and Tobago, thrilling fans and catching the eye of pundits and scouts alike.

With Ghana currently leading their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying group on 15 points with four matches remaining, hopes are growing that Bonsu Baah could be a key figure in the national team’s campaign.

“I think it will not mean a lot to only me, but for my family and for the nation—everyone—because Ghana qualifying to the World Cup is something big for the nation,” Baah told Joy Sports.

“We are 100% confident that we are going to qualify. For me, I think it’s every player’s dream to be part of the national team squad to the World Cup.”

Bonsu Baah, however, remains grounded about his rise to prominence, focusing on consistency and development at his club, KRC Genk.

“But as I said, when you focus on those things [the World Cup], you cannot perform. You just have to trust the process one after the other.

Now I go to my club and I focus on my club, and I give all to my club, and we will see what will come next.”

The forward’s mentality has drawn praise from fans and experts, especially given the pressure that often follows young talents in Ghana’s football scene.

Bonsu Baah’s full interview with Joy Sports’ Adamu Benin Abdul Karim is scheduled to air on the Joy News Channel on Friday, June 13, 2025, at 6:30 AM and 8:30 PM.
