Ohio State Women’s Soccer Stuns No. 1 Seed Notre Dame to Reach Sweet 16

Ohio State women’s soccer pulled off a huge upset by defeating No. 1 seed Notre Dame 1–0 in double overtime. This win sends the Buckeyes into the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.

The game was very tough for Ohio State. Notre Dame had many more shots on goal, 36 to 8, but Ohio State’s defenders and goalkeeper Molly Pritchard did an excellent job stopping them.

Defenders Mia McSweeney, Mirann Gacioch, Netta-Nina Hiltunen, and Berkeley Mape worked hard to keep the team strong at the back.

The winning goal came in the second overtime with only 34 seconds left. Sophomore forward Jadin Bonham scored after a pass from McSweeney, sending the ball into the near corner of the goal. The goal gave Ohio State the lead and ended the game.

This is a historic win for Ohio State. It is their first-ever victory over a team ranked in the top two in the country. The win also improved their season record to 10–4–6.

Next, Ohio State will face No. 5 seed Baylor in the Sweet 16. The Buckeyes will aim to continue their strong defense and score at key moments as they try to go further in the tournament.

This victory shows that Ohio State can compete with the best teams in college soccer, and fans are excited to see how far they can go.
