NFL Commissioner Assures That Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl Halftime Show Is Not Being Reconsidered

According to reports, the NFL is not considering dropping Bad Bunny as the headlining performer for the Super Bowl LX halftime show. NFL Commissioner, Roger Goodell, reaffirmed on Wednesday the decision to put the Grammy-winning Puerto Rican artist on the league’s biggest stage. The decision stands despite criticism from the United States President Donald Trump and some of his supporters.

Goodell addressed the backlash at a recent news conference following the annual fall owners meeting. It was the first time he had commented on the Bad Bunny’s controversy following the announcement in late September. The announcement garnered worldwide attention, including an increase in streams of Bad Bunny’s music, along with some controversies.

According to Goodell, the choice made by the organizers was based on Bad Bunny’s status as one of the most popular and in-demand entertainers in the world. Goodell also acknowledged that the NFL is accustomed to receiving some form of criticism for its entertainment choices, regardless of the performer, due to the massive size of its audience. However, he did not rule out the possibility of additional talent appearing during the show, which he noted is typical for halftime performances.

The Super Bowl LX is set to be held on Feb 8, 2026 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. It is unclear if Donald Trump plans to be there considering his criticism of Bad Bunny as the show headliner. Nonetheless, he has made appearing in person at major sporting events a significant part of his second term in the White House. So, there is the expectation that he might make an appearance as well as some prominent people.
