Popular Bassist and Founding Member of Limp Bizkit, Sam Rivers, Dies Aged 48

According to reports, popular bassist and founding member of rock band Limp Bizkit, Sam Rivers, has died at the age of 48 years. The unfortunate news was confirmed by the band, who wrote online on Saturday: “today we lost our brother”. The cause of his death remains unknown.

In a post made on social media by Limp Bizkit, the rock band said remarkable things about Sam Rivers. According to them, Sam Rivers wasn’t just their bass player, he was pure magic. The pulse beneath every song, the calm in the chaos, and the soul in the sound.

Although the band did not share any details about his death, they celebrated his legacy, recognizing his contributions to their music and the impact he had on their journey.

The rock band Limp Bizkit, made up of Fred Durst, John Otto, DJ Lethal, Wes Borland and Rivers, was formed in 1994.

Their style of music was hip-hop rock blended with expletive-laden lyrics. Some of their hit albums include Chocolate Starfish, Significant Other, and the Hot Dog Flavored Water, while they also had success with singles like “Take a Look Around” and the famous hit “Rollin’ (Air Raid Vehicle).”

Alongside his musical talent , Rivers won some decent awards. His most notable award was in 2000 where he clinched the Gibson award for Best Bassist. The band also championed his charitable work in their tribute to him.

Meanwhile, it has been four years since their last album, Still Suck. At a time in 2015, Rivers left his bandmates after suffering from liver disease but later rejoined the group in 2018.

Rivers’ last post on social media was on Friday. In the post, he shared a “Save The Date” video for Limp Bizkit performing at the Rock for People festival in Hradec Králové, a city in the Czech Republic, in June 2026. Likewise, his last performance with his bandmates was in August at the Leeds Festival in the United Kingdom.

The band is expected to begin their Gringo Papi Tour on Nov. 29, supported by Yungblud, 311, Ecca Vandal, Riff Raff and Slay Squad.
