For months, Charlie Kirk had hoped for a Trump and Musk reconciliation. He believed the two leaders were stronger united than divided.
At Kirk’s memorial in Phoenix, Elon Musk sat next to Donald Trump. The two shook hands, exchanged words, and signaled a public reconciliation for the first time since their feud.
Kirk often praised Trump while admiring Musk. He famously called Musk’s Twitter purchase “the most important purchase since the Louisiana Purchase.” He predicted a Trump and Musk reconciliation would happen.
Andrew Kolvet, Kirk’s podcast producer, posted a photo of the two men together, writing: “Charlie so badly wanted these two men to come back together.” Musk echoed the moment on X with the words “For Charlie.” The White House account later posted the same photo.

Speaking on Air Force One, Trump said Musk initiated the greeting. “I thought it was nice that he came over. We had a very good relationship.”
Musk once hinted at creating a third party, but no official steps have been taken. Instead, Musk has returned to posting positively about Trump, further strengthening the sense of reconciliation.
Kirk often texted Musk privately, warning that his harsh remarks on Trump’s policies could hurt the broader agenda. Musk reportedly listened and respected Kirk’s advice.
At the memorial, Musk embraced Erika Kirk after her moving tribute. Later, he posted a line from the Lord’s Prayer on X: “Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.”
