SYNOPSIS:

The heart is a fragile vessel, burdened by lies, secrets, hurt, and betrayal. Yet it craves love, friendship, and connection. We all have the right to love freely, but choosing the right person can feel like a daunting gamble.

When love turns sour, poisoned by force or betrayal, the path to healing becomes tangled with ego, hatred, and frustration, severing the very bonds that once brought joy.

Redemption hangs in the balance as the heart teeters between fulfillment and despair. Recovery may seem impossible… yet the choice remains to rebuild, or succumb.

In the end, you decide whether to escape the toxic cycle or learn to live with it.

Will the heart find redemption, or will the scars of love shape its destiny?

Prologue

“I’m sorry, Katie,” Matt said, embracing her as she sobbed on her shoulder, soiling her shirt.

“He’s gone,” Katie grunted, her body shaking with each gasping breath.

“Andy has finally broken me.” Katie let out another soft, grief-laced groan.

“Don’t say that, Katie,” Matt murmured, reassuring her with a gentle smile. “You’ll be just fine in no time.”

But Katie wasn’t in the mood for Matt’s soothing words.

“Why do I always end up with this kind of bad luck?” She wondered, receiving no response from Matt.

Her relationships had always ended in tragedy and heartbreaks.

Suddenly, Katie collapsed onto the floor, sobbing uncontrollably as onlookers watched with somber expressions and murmured condolences.

Matt sat beside her, uncertain how to help, and gently stroked her shoulder.

Andy had become Katie’s entire life after her previous relationships had failed.

Despite their frequent fights, they always managed to patch things up. Katie knew it was goodbye when Andy’s health began declining. However, her wealth and access to top doctors couldn’t save him.

She let out another loud scream from where she sat, drawing attention to herself. “How will I recover from this loss?” Katie asked herself, lying on Matt’s chest.

He accepted her for who she was and gave her the affection she never received from her dad.

Losing Andy felt like losing the only positive male figure in her life.

Just then, the theater door creaked open, and Andy stood smirking, regret-free for what he had just done to Katie.

He peered through the window, distracted by the bright light and movements outside.

Andy noticed his ex-girlfriend walking away, with Matt consoling her. A sly grin spread across his face.

“Gentleman,” a voice said from behind him.

Andy turned around to face his doctor. “It’s Andy, sir!” Andy reminded him.

“Why treat a good woman that way?” the doctor angrily asked. “From where I stand, that woman loves you.”

Andy shrugged. “Damn right, she does.”

“So, why fake your own death to mess with her mental health?” the doctor continued.

“I think we see things differently, Doc,” Andy gloated.

“You mean paying me to fake your brain tumor and death?” the doctor said. “And for what? To risk her life for your twisted games?”

Andy chuckled. “She’s going to be fine, Doc.”

The doctor’s eyes widened in disgust. “She spent an hour on an IV, fighting for her life, after learning you died,” he said, his voice laced with anger. “And yet, here you are, seemingly nonchalant.”

“Do you have any idea the damage that you could have done to her?” the doctor pressed, his voice laced with fear.

“Katie’s like a persistent pain,” Andy smirked. “Too attached to me.”

“So, you never loved her?”

“I loved her, but not as she wanted,” Andy replied.

“Then she must have done something to deserve this treatment,” the doctor probed further.

“I can’t do the crazies anymore. I’ve found a soul mate in another woman.”

The doctor’s face turned red with rage. “You’re despicable, Andy. How can you live with yourself?”

“I did what needed to be done,” Andy said, unfazed.

“And don’t worry, Doctor. Katie’s strong and will recover. This is the only way to detach her from me.”

The doctor shook his head. “You’re heartless.”

“Our deal is over, Mr. Andy. I’ll return your payment,” the doctor said.

“I refuse to be part of this torture.”

The doctor muttered under his breath before storming out.
